It is sad that many of the comments under this video have nothing to do with Kafka, but instead talk about other writers or other things.

The whole story is incredible. if his friend hadn't published his works we wouldn't know anything about his genius nowadays. I love how there's never a correct way to interpret Kafka's works and that you experience all of his writing different based on your experiences in life and the way you look at it. While discussing the topic at school many of my classmates disliked his stories, they were weird or depressing to them, Kafka himself seemed like a mystery, they couldn't understand him at all. Meanwhile I became very fond of his writing - I was also bullied and suffered from depression. To me his works were relateable, I felt connected, understood. And finding another classmate who started diving deeper into his works was great too, we discussed it a lot and shared our thoughts. My family couldn't quite understand my interest for such strange and difficult texts but it was so inspirational and consoling to me. I'm so glad his friend acted against his will and I'm sure Kafka would also like knowing that he can help people with his writing.
All graveness aside, kafka's humor in his writing is _noteworthy. i believe it was the short story, conversation with the supplicant, that was significantly funny to me, but i can't remember. edit: but not significant enough for me to remember, apparently. The Castle would be the best example for Kafkaesque, it is in such a convoluted world, even the author dies before finishing all the work. Almost thirty years ago I was a student in Vienna and traveled to Prague on a field trip. We visited Kafka's world. It is still amazing how a person who produced so little, so introverted, and lived so shortly was able to have his work survive the horrors of the 20th century and gain acclaim (albeit after death) where so many writers of our time are ignored today and can't even be read, heard or whatever. Just a thought.
You guys should do Hermann Hesse. I love all of your videos on historical figures. This video is soo beautyful. I know how to make this whole planet a whole lot less Kafkaesque: 1) Find out who's really in charge of what. 2) Terraform Mars (make Mars inhabitable by human life) 3) Find out who the middle people are, and what rules are unnecessary, complicated, and/or vague. 4) Send all the middle people to Mars, along with their ridiculous rulebooks! 5) Invent truth gas, and release the gas in the air in large quantities. 6) Cure blindness and physical disability so everyone can see and write. 7) Eliminate all currency worldwide, along with language, and replace with the traditional barter system and a visual-based language we can all understand.
Tokyo Trial, Netflix. Not the usual Wells interview situation that we see. The students seem more informed, they quote previous interview articles, etc.
